Next, you’ll register for the state licensing exam administered by PSI. The test is computer-based and consists of two portions:
National portion (80 questions)
State-specific portion (50 questions)
You must score at least 75% on each section to pass. It’s highly recommended that you review key topics such as Indiana license law, contracts, and agency relationships. REAL University’s exam prep resources are designed specifically for Indiana’s exam and help boost first-time pass rates.
Indiana requires a criminal background check through fingerprinting before your license can be issued. Schedule your fingerprinting through an approved vendor (like IdentoGO), and make sure the results are sent to the Indiana Real Estate Commission.
After passing your exam and submitting your background check, the final step is to apply for your license through the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA). You’ll need to:
Submit proof of course completion
Include your passing exam results
Upload fingerprint results
Pay the licensing fee
Once approved, you’ll receive your official Indiana real estate license!
Getting your license is just the beginning. As a new agent, you’ll need to complete post-licensing education within your first two years and choose a brokerage to work under. We cover this in more detail in our upcoming blogs, including:
