Texas Title Insurance Education Requirements

Whether you are preparing for your first license or maintaining your current license, start by understanding the education requirements that apply to you.

Pre-Licensing Requirements

Required Education: Nonexempt title agency management personnel must complete at least 8 hours of approved professional training within the 12 months before application.

State Examination: No state title or escrow licensing examination.

Other: Management personnel training is separate from escrow officer licensing. A qualifying management experience exemption may apply.

Choose education that meets the requirements for your license and review the course approval details before enrolling. Completing a course does not replace your other licensing obligations.

Continuing Education Requirements

Required Hours: 10 approved hours every 2 years for covered individual title licensees and escrow officers.

Required Subjects and Other Details: Include 2 hours of ethics/consumer protection. At least half of your hours must be classroom or classroom equivalent, unless an applicable exemption is granted.

Review the course approval details before enrolling so you know how the credit applies to your Texas title insurance license.

These requirements describe the standard resident individual title agent requirements. Your obligations may differ if you qualify for an exemption or hold a different license status. Completing education does not renew your license automatically. Confirm your requirements with your state insurance regulator.
