Maryland Title Insurance Education Requirements

Whether you are preparing for your first license or maintaining your current license, start by understanding the education requirements that apply to you.

Pre-Licensing Requirements

Required Education: No mandatory pre-licensing education course.

State Examination: Yes.

You can use exam preparation materials to build your understanding of title insurance. Optional preparation does not replace your examination or other licensing requirements.

Continuing Education Requirements

Required Hours: 16 approved hours every 2 years for title-only producers.

Required Subjects and Other Details: Complete 13 title hours plus 3 ethics hours. Qualifying Maryland attorneys may claim a CE exemption.

Review the course approval details before enrolling so you know how the credit applies to your Maryland title insurance license.

These requirements describe the standard resident individual title agent requirements. Your obligations may differ if you qualify for an exemption or hold a different license status. Completing education does not renew your license automatically. Confirm your requirements with your state insurance regulator.
